We're Back! I hope everyone enjoyed their break from band, but it is time to start playing again. We have a lot of fun music programmed for the Winter Concert and look forward to playing music with all of you again! This week only, we will be at Fruita Monument High School -- there was a schedule conflict at CMU. Fruita has been nice enough to let us use their band room this week; they have machining band practice so we will not have access to the room until after 6:30. Hopefully, you have had time to pick up a folder and at least look at your music. In case you missed our last email. folders are ready.

Music Folders

Have we mentioned folders are ready? The folders will be at Roper Music until Wednesday. Once they leave Roper Music, they will be available at the first two rehearsals. After that you will have to make arrangements with your section leader to get a folder. Speaking of section leaders, if you do not know what part you are supposed to play contact yours:

Baritone/Euphonium -- Heather Greasley -- hfdragon13@yahoo.com

We will be rehearsing outside, so be sure to use sunscreen and bring plenty of water. If you have a stand please bring it, we sometimes run short. Set up and tear down go faster with more hands; if you are able to come early and help set up that would be much appreciated -- as well as staying a couple minutes after rehearsal to help load the truck. Please note that our rehearsal will end at 8:30 due to the sunsetting. It is very important everyone have their music in order and be ready to play at 7 sharp.

Director Notes

From Jen:
Please take a minute or 7 to listen to this recording from last week.  Follow along in your part and make notes. Besides percussion, the balance is pretty accurate in the recording.  Percussion was really not that loud.  (Mailchimp won't allow me to attach or imbed music files so I can only link to the recording, sorry.)

From Stephanie:
Please listen to the following recordings:

Manhattan Beach:

Here is a great recording on the drastic, dramatic dynamics that this march exudes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fouxrG8yuPI

National Emblem March:

Here is a great recording on how exciting this march can be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f22JcsKmnYg
